The start of the development of leg belts that remain legible came when a farmer bought a couple of cows that had not been branded. As a result, the cows were no longer recognizable in the milking parlor. If the automatic cow recognition sometimes fails, it is only possible to recognize the cows in the ear tag. However, this requires climbing on top of the milking parlor. After testing different materials, it was finally decided to choose a tire similar to the structure of a seat belt with a number attached between a plastic. Due to the hard plastic coating, manure and dirt do not stick to the belt and it remains legible. After a test period of more than a year, the tires are now available via Pootband.nl.
